Barcelona, Spain, Aug 15 (EFE).- The father of Spain and FC Barcelona teenage star Lamine Yamal has been stabbed multiple times in Mataro, a town just north of Barcelona.
Four people have been arrested, Catalan police told EFE Thursday.
Mounir Nasraoui was stabbed Wednesday evening in a parking lot in the Rocafonda neighborhood of Mataro, where Nasraoui lives and where Yamal was born.
Nasraoui was being treated at a hospital in Badalona with two stab wounds to the abdomen that are not thought to be life-threatening.
Three people were arrested on Wednesday night in connection with the stabbing, with the fourth arrest coming on Thursday morning.
Sources in the Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalonia’s regional police force) told EFE that the stabbing occurred at around 9pm. The first three suspects were arrested two hours later.
Nasraoui was reportedly involved in an altercation with several men earlier on Wednesday. Local police believe that the knife attack was related to that previous encounter.
Mataro police reported Thursday that they received a warning of a fight in a parking lot at around 9pm.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Nasraoui with multiple stab wounds. The regional Mossos d’Esquadra then took over the investigation. EFE
