The group announced his death in a statement on Telegram, and in a brief biography it highlighted his career as head of the Badr Military Unit, in charge of the group’s activity north of the Litani River between 2001 and 2018.

According to the text, Qubaisi joined the ranks of Hezbollah at the time of its founding in 1982, supervised a series of operations against Israel and led “a number of missile formations.”

The Israeli military said that the high-ranking officer was the head of Hezbollah’s Missiles and Rockets Force, was a central source of missile knowledge, and was close to the senior military leadership.

It said Qubaisi was eliminated along with other central commanders of the same department during Tuesday’s bombing of a building in Ghobeiri in the southern suburbs of Beirut, known as Dahiyeh.

Lebanon’s health ministry said the attack left six dead and at least 25 wounded.

Dahiyeh was the target of another Israeli attack, on Monday, from which Hezbollah commander Ali Karaki emerged unscathed, and another last Friday, in which more than 50 people were killed, according to the latest count offered by the Lebanese Civil Defense.

Tuesday’s attack came amid an unprecedented and intense Israeli bombing campaign launched on Monday against numerous areas in southern and eastern Lebanon, which has left more than 500 dead and thousands wounded. EFE
