Jerusalem, Oct 14 (EFE).- Four Israeli soldiers were killed, and eight others seriously wounded in an overnight drone strike by Hezbollah on a military base near Haifa, the Israeli army said on Monday.
“Last night (Sunday), a Hezbollah unmanned aircraft hit a military base near Binyamin,” an Israeli Defense Force (IDF) statement said. “Four IDF soldiers fell and eight soldiers were seriously injured.”
All the injured were taken to the hospitals. The military released the names of the four dead soldiers after notifying their families. All four were 19 and in infantry training.
The military they “will study and investigate the incident,” wondering “how an unmanned aircraft penetrates without warning and hits the base.”

“The threat of the unmanned aircraft is a threat we have faced since the beginning of the war. We are required to provide better protection. We will investigate this incident, We will learn and improve. Our job is to better protect our soldiers and the citizens of Israel,” an Israeli military statement said.
In total, 67 people were injured in the northern Israel attack, Israeli emergency services reported earlier.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the strike, saying it was part of a series of retaliatory operations against “Zionist attacks, particularly in the al-Nwaireh and al-Basta neighborhoods of Beirut and other Lebanese regions.”
“The Islamic Resistance launched assault drones targeting a Golani Brigade training camp in Binyamina, south of Haifa, on the night of Sunday, October 13, 2024,” Hezbollah said in a statement.

The strike comes amid Israel’s ongoing offensive in southern Lebanon, which included an attack that injured three Lebanese soldiers and targeted Lebanese Red Cross paramedics.
Israeli forces also bombed a border crossing between Lebanon and Syria and destroyed a mosque, resulting in at least four deaths. EFE
