Grand Rapids, United States, Nov 3 (EFE).- United States Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris said Sunday in the key state of Michigan that she promised to work to end Israel’s war in Gaza and Lebanon.
At a rally in East Lansing, the candidate addressed the Arab community directly, a key group to secure the 15 electoral college votes in the state, and said “this year has been difficult, given the scale of death and destruction in Gaza and given the civilian casualties and displacement in Lebanon.”
“It is devastating, and as president, I will do everything in my power to end the war in Gaza, to bring home the hostages, end the suffering in Gaza, ensure Israel is secure and ensure the Palestinian people can realize their right to dignity, freedom, security and self-determination,” Harris said.

The Arab vote in Michigan is key to tipping the balance Tuesday in favor of the Democrats, who under President Joe Biden in 2020 managed to beat Republican Donald Trump by more than 20 points.
However, this year the polls give Trump the advantage in voting intention among Arabs, who could turn their backs on Harris for being part of the Biden administration, which continues to support Israel with weapons in its operations in Gaza, Lebanon or Yemen against militias aligned with Iran.
Harris did not mention Trump by name at this rally, but outlined the differences with his policies and his character, while trying to convey a positive message.
The vice president asked young people from Generation Z, those born in the first decade of the 2000s, to mobilize their acquaintances to vote and said that “I see your power.”

This group of voters, who normally do not participate highly in the elections, is another of the strategic population segments to win the state, where Harris today focused all her campaign activity two days before the election day. EFE
