Sanaa, Apr 27 (EFE).- At least eight people, including women and children, were killed on Sunday in a new wave of United States bombing raids on houses located in Bani al Harith, north of the Yemeni capital Sanaa, Al-Masirah television reported.

According to the Houthi rebel-controlled media, the airstrikes also left “several wounded,” however, it warned that this was a “preliminary count” and that the number of casualties could rise as it reported the arrival of ambulance teams at the site of the impact.

Al-Masirah said the target of the attack was “three houses” in an area called Thabqan without giving further details. At the same time, US aircraft carried out six bombings on a mountain in the governorate of ‘Amran, north of Sanaa.

This new round of bombings comes the same day that at least two people were killed and nine others wounded by US air strikes in areas adjacent to the Yemeni capital, including Bani al Harith, according to the Houthi Ministry of Health.

On Mar. 15, on the orders of President Donald Trump, the US launched an unprecedented bombing campaign against Yemen with the stated aim of destroying the Houthis’ military capabilities.
However, the insurgents said these strikes had hit civilian sites and caused the deaths of around 200 people.
With this campaign, Washington hopes that the rebels will no longer be able to disrupt commercial shipping in the Red Sea with their operations against vessels passing through the area, nor will they be able to stop their attacks against Israel in support of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Since the start of the Gaza war, the Iranian-backed Houthis have carried out around 100 direct attacks against Israel and dozens more against commercial vessels in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, prompting retaliation from both Israel and an international coalition led by the US and the United Kingdom.
