Tehran, June 18 (EFE).- Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei warned the United States on Wednesday that they would suffer “irreparable” damage if they intervene militarily in their war with Israel, and underlined that the Iranian people would not surrender.
“The harm the US will suffer will definitely be irreparable if they enter this conflict militarily,” Khamenei said on social networking platform X, which came as he made a televised broadcast of an address to his countrymen.
“The US entering in this matter [war] is 100% to its own detriment. The damage it will suffer will be far greater than any harm that Iran may encounter,” he added.
“We will never surrender in response to the attacks of anyone. This is the logic of the Iranian nation. This is the spirit of the Iranian nation,” he further said.
Khamenei’s statement came in response to US President Donald Trump’s recent demand asking for Iran’s “unconditional surrender.”
Iran’s highest political and religious authority said that Israel had made a grave error in attacking the Persian country and would face the consequences of its actions.
The 85-year-old leader underlined that the Iranian Armed Forces were fully prepared to defend the country and had the support of the government.
Israel began carrying out large scale airstrikes on Iran early Friday on the grounds of stopping its nuclear program, to which Tehran responded with retaliatory strikes, causing the deaths of more than 200 people in Iran and over 20 in Israel. EFE
