Iranian missile hits hospital in southern Israel

Jerusalem, June 19 (EFE).- A hospital located in the Beersheba region of southern Israel suffered a direct hit on Thursday during the latest Iranian missile launch against Israel shortly after 7 am, firefighters said, with no immediate reports of casualties.

The affected facility is Soroka Hospital, according to local media reports.

In a statement, the firefighters said that a medical facility in the southern district sustained a direct hit and a fire broke out at the scene.

They also reported impacts with no injuries in the Dan district, which encompasses Tel Aviv and its surrounding metropolitan area, and in central Israel.

Photos posted on social media show heavy smoke filling the facility, which suffered severe damage to a facade of more than four stories, as well as broken glass and widespread destruction inside. Vehicles near the hospital were also charred.

No injuries have been reported at the hospital, where, according to local newspaper Haaretz, staff were on the ground floor to mitigate risk to their lives in the event of an impact.

Firefighters are searching for and rescuing trapped people.

At least three people were seriously injured, including a man in his 60s.

One person sustained moderate injuries, and another seven minor injuries after an impact in the central city of Holon, according to paramedics from the Israeli emergency service Magen David Aadom.

Impact sites were also identified in the cities of Ramat Gan and Tel Aviv, also in the central region of the country, so far the hardest hit after six days of offensives since Israel attacked Iran early Friday.

Another 16 people were slightly injured in Ramat Gan, in central Israel, and one more in Tel Aviv, according to paramedics. EFE
