At least five killed in Russian attack on Ukrainian capital

Kyiv, June 23 (EFE).- At least five people were killed early Monday morning in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv in a Russian drone and missile attack, according to Ukrainian authorities.

The five people died in a house as a result of the attack, while 19 people were injured in the same district, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitchko.

Rescue services are working in one of the residential buildings hit in the attack, while Klitchko also reported material damage in three other districts of the capital.

A fire also broke out in a non-residential building in Podilskyi district.

Russia attacks Ukrainian territory with drones practically every night. In recent weeks, it has increased the number of unmanned aircraft it uses in these types of attacks.

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Russia is currently capable of producing up to 170 drones per day, including attack drones and decoys, although Moscow plans to increase daily production to 190 units by the end of this year. Thus, Russia can currently launch up to 300 attack drones in a single day.

Similarly, since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Ukraine has focused heavily on the development and deployment of its own drones. In April, more than 95 percent of the drones used by Ukrainian forces on the front lines were domestically produced. EFE
