Jerusalem, July 21 (EFE).- The total death toll in the devastated Gaza Strip crossed 59,000 on Monday following the latest Israeli bombings, the Hamas-controlled health ministry said in a statement.
On Sunday alone more than 100 people were killed in several Israeli bombings that also left more than 1,000 wounded, according to Palestinian health authorities.
With this, the total number of people wounded since Israel began its invasion of the Gaza Strip more than 21 months ago reached 141,135, many of whom have sustained lifelong injuries requiring long-term care and rehabilitation.

Moreover, the health system in the Strip has collapsed and is unable to tend to the increasingly large number of people requiring medical attention.
Besides the official death toll, thousands of bodies remain buried in the rubble that the civil defense teams have not been able to extract due to the lack of heavy machinery and the Israeli forces taking control of most of the territory.
On the other hand, about 30 people were killed Monday in more Israeli attacks on tents, residential buildings and civilian groups waiting for aid trucks, health sources confirmed to EFE. EFE
