Kyiv, July 29 (EFE).- At least 16 people were killed and 35 others were injured in a Russian strike on a prison in the Zaporizhzhia region of southeastern Ukraine, Governor Ivan Fedorov said.
“At night, the enemy shelled the Zaporizhzhia district 8 times, previously with FABs. They also hit a correctional colony. 16 people were killed, 35 were wounded,” Fedorov wrote on Telegram.
The governor of Zaporizhzhia—a region partially occupied by Russia with the front line of the Russia-Ukraine war running through it—said that the attack on the prison, located in territory under Kyiv control, destroyed the prison infrastructure and damaged houses in the surrounding area.
“The injured are being provided with all necessary medical care,” Fedorov added. EFE
