Nearly 30 killed in Israeli offensive on Gaza

Jerusalem, Aug 4 (EFE).— Nearly 30 people were killed across the Gaza Strip on Monday due to Israeli attacks, according to medical sources, including a child who died from hunger-related causes and at least 10 others shot while trying to collect food near distribution points.

Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, in the north of the enclave, confirmed the death of a child, Sand Muhammad Saad, due to hunger and malnutrition.

Also in Gaza City, seven people were killed in the Shejaiya neighborhood after an Israeli airstrike hit near the Martyrs’ Mosque.

Further north, in Beit Lahia, two more people were killed in an attack for which no additional details were released.

Five bodies were brought to the Sheikh Radwan Clinic in Gaza City following an Israeli strike in the Al-Tawam area, in the northwest of the Strip.

In central Gaza, eight people were killed near a food distribution point run by the US-based Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), located near the Bureij refugee camp.

Witnesses said they were shot by Israeli forces stationed on the outskirts.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, around 1,500 people have been killed by Israeli fire while waiting for food at GHF distribution points or along roads where aid trucks were expected to pass.

Elsewhere in central Gaza, three people died when their home in Deir al-Balah was hit by an airstrike.

In the south, a man was killed in an Israeli bombardment in Abasan Al Kabira, on the eastern outskirts of Khan Younis.

In Rafah, where GHF operates three food distribution points (two in the northwest and one in the militarized Morag corridor), two more Gazans were reportedly shot and killed by Israeli troops.

More than 60,000 people have died in Gaza since the beginning of Israel’s offensive in October 2023, a situation South Africa has described as genocide in its case before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

International and Israeli human rights organizations have also accused Israel of genocide. EFE
