Bonmati stars as Spain cruise past France to win Nations League

Seville, Spain, Feb 28 (EFE).- Aitana Bonmati starred as world champions Spain easily beat France 2-0 in the final of the Women’s Nations League in Seville on Wednesday.

Bonmati, crowned the world’s best player last year in the wake of Spain’s World Cup triumph, opened the scoring after 32 minutes when she tapped in from close range from Olga Carmona’s low cross.

The lead was no more than the Spanish deserved, having dominated possession throughout the early stages.

The world champions doubled their lead shortly after half time, with Bonmati involved again as she played the ball out to the right to Ona Batlle, whose cut back was excellently finished off by Mariona Caldentey. EFE
