Israel confirms death of Hamas’ economy minister in Gaza

Jerusalem, Aug 5 (EFE).- Israel’s military confirmed on Monday the death of Abed Al-Zeriei, Islamist group Hamas’ economy minister in Gaza, in an airstrike at an undisclosed location over the weekend.

Fighter jets of the Israeli Air Force conducted strikes, under the intelligence guidance of the Israeli Defense Forces and the Southern Command, and killed Abed Al-Zeriei, a terrorist in the production headquarters of the military wing of Hamas and the group’s ministry of economy in the Gaza Strip, the IDF said in a statement on Monday.

The IDF also alleged that Al-Zeriei played an important role in the Islamist organization’s efforts to seize control of the humanitarian aid entering Gaza as well as in managing markets controlled by Hamas in the enclave.

He was also responsible for the distribution of fuel, gas and funds for terrorist purposes, according to the IDF. EFE
