London, Oct 16 (EFE).- Thomas Tuchel has been appointed England’s new head coach until after the 2026 World Cup, the Football Association (FA) announced Wednesday.
The German, who was most recently with Bayern Munich, which enjoyed a decade of dominance in the Bundesliga, has signed a contract until after the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
He will start coaching on Jan. 1, 2025, ahead of the World Cup qualifiers that will start in March.
He will be assisted by Anthony Barry.
After Gareth Southgate’s departure following England’s defeat by Spain in the Euro 2024 final, Lee Carsley was appointed interim coach.
Under him, the England side won three UEFA Nations League games, two against Finland and one against the Republic of Ireland and lost one, against Greece.
Carsley will remain in charge of the national team for the next two Nations League matches, against Greece and Ireland. EFE
