Lviv, Ukraine, 21 Feb (EFE).- Despite fatigue and uncertainty about the future of the conflict, Ukrainian soldiers see no choice but to continue defending themselves against Russia, hoping that their foreign partners will not abandon them at this critical time.

“We have lost some territory, we have lost many people. But we still have our statehood,” said Vasyl Vovk, 38, an astronomer and programmer in civilian life and currently an artillery soldier in Ukraine’s 36th Brigade.

After serving a year in 2014, Vovk rejoined the army in the early days of the invasion in 2022.

Along with thousands of other Ukrainians, with and without military experience, he helped to disrupt Russia’s ‘blitzkrieg’. EFE
