Rashford undergoes medicals ahead of Barcelona joining

Barcelona, Spain, July 21 (EFE).- British soccer player Marcus Rashford underwent medicals on Monday ahead of signing for Hansi Flick’s FC Barcelona.

Rashford, who landed on Sunday in the Catalan capital, is expected to join the illustrious Catalan club on loan on Wednesday, according to the club authorities.

FC Barcelona will have the option of permanently signing the Manchester United striker for some 30 million euros at the end of the loan period.

Rashford was initially set to be presented by Barcelona on Tuesday, but it has been postponed by a day due to a double training session set by club manager Flick.

In recent months, the versatile striker fell out of favor at Old Trafford with Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim unhappy with his effort at the club.

Barça decided to opt for Rashford after failing to secure the services of Nico Wiliams from Athletic and Luis Dias from Liverpool.

The Catalan club has hastened his signing to ensure he can join the team before it leaves for its tour of Japan and South Korea on Thursday where it will take part in friendly matches against local clubs. EFE
