Sports Desk, July 24 (EFE).— LaLiga Genuine, Spain’s football league for players with intellectual disabilities, continues to grow as a symbol of inclusion and social transformation.
The league will welcome Cultural Leonesa, Mirandés, and Ceuta as new entrants in its 2025–2026 season, bringing the total number of participating clubs to 50.
Since its launch in the 2017–2018 season, the initiative has evolved into a nationwide movement that now engages thousands of players, clubs, and fans across the country.
What began as a social responsibility project developed by LaLiga through its foundation has grown into a fully-fledged competition rooted in values of respect, equality, and teamwork.
Designed to normalize and promote football participation among people with intellectual disabilities, the league has now become a model for inclusive sports.
“This milestone reaffirms that when the values of sport become a driving force for change, the impact is real and lasting,” said Olga de la Fuente, director of the LaLiga Foundation.
“Reaching 50 teams is more than just a number. It represents an unstoppable social movement that continues to grow thanks to the commitment of the clubs and the support of everyone who believes in authentic, inclusive, and transformative football.”
The 2025–2026 season will see the addition of Cultural Leonesa, Mirandés, and Ceuta to the LaLiga Genuine family, raising the number of participating clubs to 50.
Over 1,400 players and coaching staff are expected to take part when the league kicks off in November.
Organizers have also promised “many new features and surprises” to celebrate the upcoming season, underscoring LaLiga Genuine’s ongoing evolution as both a sporting and social force. EFE
