Valencia, Spain, Nov 9 (EFE).- More than 130,000 people gathered during a demonstration on Saturday in Valencia to demand the resignation of the regional president, Carlos Mazón, over the emergency management of the storms and floods that struck the region last week.

The demonstrations’ leading banner included an image of Mazón head down wearing an emergency vest, and other signs showed slogans such as “We are stained with mud, you are stained with blood” and “Mazón, resign.”
The participants were called by social and civic organizations and leftist trade unions to Valencia, the regional capital and the most affected province.
Thousands also marched in the Alicante, another city in the Valencia region, and several hundred in Madrid.

As the search for the missing and the cleanup and reconstruction of the damaged areas continue, the political confrontation over the management of the disaster has intensified.
The central government and the regional government have accused each other of delays in communicating the weather forecast of torrential rains and failing to warn the population in time to take shelter.
