Her National Day speech came shortly after comments by Tesla founder Elon Musk suggesting that Taiwan be brought into a \u201cspecial administrative zone\u201d rustled feathers in Taipei but were welcomed by Beijing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to the Financial Times in an interview published Friday, Musk said: \u201cMy recommendation\u2026 would be to figure out a special administrative zone for Taiwan that is reasonably palatable, probably won\u2019t make everyone happy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd it\u2019s possible, and I think probably, in fact, that they could have an arrangement that\u2019s more lenient than Hong Kong. I doubt his proposal will be taken up,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
China’s ambassador to the United States, Qin Gang, applauded Musk\u2019s remarks in a tweet on Saturday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
