Jerusalem, Oct 15 (EFE).- The Israel Defense Forces announced on Tuesday the capture of three Hezbollah militants in a tunnel in southern Lebanon, along with a large amount of weapons and survival equipment, according to a military statement.<\/p>
The three captured are members of Hezbollah’s elite Redwan force and were found under a building used by the Shiite group, an ally of Iran, in southern Lebanon, the IDF said Tuesday.<\/p>
“After surrendering, the terrorists were captured, arrested, and interrogated by field investigators from Unit 504, and then transferred to a prison facility in the country to continue the investigation,” the IDF claimed.<\/p>
On Sunday, Israel announced for the first time the capture of a Hezbollah militant, identified as Wadah Kamel Yunes, in a tunnel during its operations in southern Lebanon. He was brought to Israel for questioning, the IDF said.<\/p>
On Tuesday, authorities released a video of Yunes’s interrogation, in which he claimed that the leaders of the Redwan force fled after the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general of Hezbollah, as they are “men of little faith” only interested in money.<\/p>
At least 14 Israeli soldiers have been killed in attacks near the northern border since Israel launched its ground offensive in southern Lebanon in the early hours of Oct. 1: 10 in fighting in the south of the country and another 4 in Israeli territory. Three civilians in Israel have also been killed in Hezbollah attacks.<\/p>
In Lebanon, over 2,100 people have been killed, and around 10,000 have been injured, most during the severe escalation of the past two weeks. EFE<\/p>
