Vadodara, India, Oct 28 (EFE).- Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, inaugurated on Monday a new Airbus plant in partnership with Tata in the city of Vadodara, highlighting it as an example of bilateral collaboration which would pave the way for new joint projects.<\/p>
Modi received Sanchez in Vadodara, in his native state of Gujarat, in what is the Spanish leader\u2019s first official visit to India.<\/p>
Sanchez was accompanied by his wife, Bego\u00f1a Gomez, while his delegation also included the Industry and Tourism Minister Jordi Hereu and Transport Minister Oscar Puente.<\/p>
The Indian prime minister took Sanchez on a \u201ctour of honor\u201d through the streets of the city in a convertible van decorated with garlands amid cheers from citizens.<\/p>
Speaking at the inauguration of the Tata-Airbus plant, attended by more than a thousand invitees, the two leaders underlined the relevance of the factory, which represents a milestone for the Indian aerospace industry as it is the first private facility for military aircraft.<\/p>
Sanchez said the plant summarizes the excellent state of the bilateral relationship between the two countries and shows that Spain is a reliable partner for the Indian government as well as firms.<\/p>
He added that this partnership between Airbus and Tata brings together the best of two worlds, will contribute to the progress of the Indian aerospace industry and open doors for the arrival of other European companies.<\/p>
He also expressed conviction that the plant would be a symbol of industrial excellence, an engine of growth and a testament to the close and growing friendship between the two countries.<\/p>
Modi, on his part, stressed that the inaugurated plant, in addition to creating thousands of jobs, strengthens the bilateral relationship and will inspire new joint collaboration projects between India and Spain.<\/p>
Sanchez was scheduled to leave for India\u2019s financial capital, Mumbai, later in the day, following a meeting with Modi, for the second part of his visit. EFE <\/p>
