Beirut, Nov 2 (EFE).- A total of 71 people have been killed and 169 injured by Israeli bombardments in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 2,980 since the conflict began in 2023, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.<\/p>\n\n\n

The ministry pointed out that 109 aerial bombings were recorded across various areas of Lebanon, with the majority occurring in Nabatieh (57), the South (26), and Baalbek-Hermel (24), bringing the total number of bombings to 11,876, according to the Lebanese ministry’s statement.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Israeli bombings on Friday resulted in 52 deaths in Baalbek alone, a place that hosts UNESCO World Heritage-listed Greco-Roman ruins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Known as the City of the Sun, historic Baalbek received its first total evacuation order this week from Israel, which has intensified its bombings in the area, threatening one of the best-preserved Roman remains in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the Israeli bombardment of Lebanon began almost simultaneously with the conflict in Gaza in response to rocket attacks by the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, the situation took a radical turn with the escalation of attacks just over a month ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nearly 1.2 million people have been displaced by the conflict from areas where the violence is most intense, mainly in the South and the Beqaa Valley, regions with a Shia majority. EFE<\/p>\n\n\n\n
