Los Angeles, US, Jan 20 (EFE).- Pop icon Madonna has publicly condemned recent measures by US President Donald Trump that target the LGBT+ community.<\/p>
\u201cIt\u2019s so sad to watch our new government slowly dismantling all the freedoms we have been fighting for and won over the years,\u201d Madonna wrote on her X account. <\/p>
She added the LGTB+ pride flag, a broken heart emoji, her picture and the rallying cry, \u201cDon\u2019t give up the fight!\u201d<\/p>
Madonna\u2019s statement came hours after Trump signed an executive order banning gender-affirming treatments and surgeries for minors under 19, which he referred to as \u201cprotecting children from chemical and surgical mutilation.\u201d<\/p>
The order criticized medical professionals for what it called \u201cmaiming and sterilizing a growing number of impressionable children under the radical and false claim that adults can change a child\u2019s sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions.\u201d<\/p>
A longtime advocate for LGBT+ rights, Madonna has been vocal about her support since the 1990s, particularly during the AIDS crisis.<\/p>
