Washington, Mar 3 (EFE) – United States President Donald Trump criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday, warning that his opposition to a peace talks with Russia could soon cost him his job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The warnings came after Zelenskyy’s disastrous Friday visit to the White House when he engaged in a tense on-camera confrontation with the US president and Vice president, JD Vance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Monday, Trump reacted to Zelenskyy’s Sunday statement that a deal with Russia could be \u201cvery, very far away.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy, and America will not put up with it for much longer!\u201d the US president said in a message on Truth Social, his social media platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This guy doesn\u2019t want there to be Peace as long as he has America\u2019s backing, and, Europe, in the meeting they had with Zelenskyy, stated flatly that they cannot do the job without the US,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later, speaking to reporters from the White House, Trump again slammed Zelenskyy, suggesting he will not be around “very long” if he continues to oppose an early peace deal with the Kremlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“That person will not be listened to very long, because I believe that Russia wants to make a deal. I believe certainly the people of Ukraine want to make a deal,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, Trump hinted that the minerals deal that fell through on Friday was not dead and appeared to downplay reports that he could halt military aid to Kyiv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It should not be that hard a deal to make. It could be made very fast,” Trump told reporters, referring to a ceasefire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump’s warnings come after Zelenskyy’s disastrous visit to the White House on Friday when he got into an on-camera argument with the US president and his vice president, JD Vance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the clash, government staff asked Zelenskyy to leave the White House, as the lunch, the press conference, and the signing of a mining agreement had been suspended. EFE<\/p>\n\n\n\n
