Santiago de Chile, Mar 7 (EFE).- More than 2,500 lesbian and transgender women have reported abuse in Chile since 2002 due to their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression, according to data released Friday by a human rights advocacy group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thirty-three of these cases were classified as hate crimes, the Movement for the Integration and Liberation of Homosexuals (Movilh) said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rights group reported that in 2024 alone, it recorded 118 lesbophobic or transphobic assaults against lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, and transgender women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSince we began documenting cases, we have recorded murders, physical and verbal assaults, domestic violence, and workplace and educational discrimination, among other forms of abuse,\u201d said group spokesperson Javiera Z\u00fa\u00f1iga.<\/p>\n\n\n
