{"id":1758910,"date":"2025-03-22T16:29:32","date_gmt":"2025-03-22T15:29:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pre.efe.com\/?p=1758910"},"modified":"2025-03-22T17:06:27","modified_gmt":"2025-03-22T16:06:27","slug":"at-least-2-killed-10-injured-in-israeli-strikes-on-southern-lebanon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pre.efe.com\/en\/latest-news\/2025-03-22\/at-least-2-killed-10-injured-in-israeli-strikes-on-southern-lebanon\/","title":{"rendered":"At least 2 killed, 10 injured in Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beirut, Mar 22 (EFE).- At least two people were killed and 10 injured on Saturday in Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon in response to rocket fire from the area, the Lebanese Civil Defense reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Two martyrs (dead) and 10 wounded in an Israeli attack in Tulin,\u201d a city in southern Lebanon, the agency said, identifying the deceased as one Syrian national and one Lebanese citizen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Israel launched a series of strikes on villages across southern Lebanon after intercepting three rockets fired from the region toward northern Israel, the first such attack since the Nov. 27 ceasefire.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"681\" src=\"https:\/\/pre.efe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-126-1024x681.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1758945\" style=\"width:800px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pre.efe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-126-1024x681.webp 1024w, https:\/\/pre.efe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-126-300x200.webp 300w, https:\/\/pre.efe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-126-768x511.webp 768w, https:\/\/pre.efe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-126-1536x1022.webp 1536w, https:\/\/pre.efe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-126-430x286.webp 430w, https:\/\/pre.efe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-126-1200x798.webp 1200w, https:\/\/pre.efe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-126.webp 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Lebanon\u2019s state-run National News Agency (NNA), the Israeli military carried out multiple airstrikes, including one that targeted a house in Tulin, resulting in casualties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NNA also reported Israeli bombardments in several other areas, including al Jabur, Mlita, Kfar Kila, and Sajd, as well as in the cities of Tyre, Harfa, and Al Jbeen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fragile Ceasefire in Jeopardy After months of escalating hostilities in 2024, Hezbollah and Israel brokered a ceasefire that took effect on Nov. 27 for a 60-day period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The truce expired on Jan. 26 but was later extended until Feb. 18, when Israeli troops withdrew from most of the Lebanese territory they had occupied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, Israel continues to maintain positions on five hills within Lebanon, in violation of the agreement, and has carried out targeted strikes against Hezbollah-linked sites.
