Geneva, June 18 (EFE).\u2014 Iran will not abandon its uranium enrichment program despite Israeli strikes, Tehran\u2019s ambassador to the UN in Geneva said Wednesday, warning of serious cross-border consequences if attacks continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ambassador Ali Bahreini insisted the atomic program is strictly for peaceful purposes and emphasized Iran\u2019s self-reliance. \u201cHistory has taught us not to depend on others,\u201d he said. \u201cEven during COVID, no one gave us vaccines.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asked if Israeli attacks had disrupted operations, he said Iran\u2019s nuclear research remains on track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur scientists continue their work as planned,\u201d he said, denying reports of significant damage to the Natanz facility. \u201cThanks to precautionary measures, we have secured our sites and controlled the situation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He warned of the potential for radiation leaks that could harm neighboring countries and urged the international community to pressure Israel to stop targeting nuclear facilities. Most of the damage so far, he said, has hit civilian infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bahreini criticized Western nations, especially in Europe, for their \u201cshameful\u201d support of Israeli actions.<\/p>\n\n\n

On the possibility of renewed nuclear talks with the US, he said any dialogue must begin with a halt to Israeli aggression and a shift in Washington\u2019s approach. \u201cIran is a strong and civilized nation, not one to be coerced,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He warned that Iran would retaliate firmly if Israel continues its offensive, or if the US gets directly involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe trust our military strength. Our forces will strike back at Israeli military centers. They target civilians. We act within international law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iran slams Trump\u2019s surrender demand Bahreini also condemned President Donald Trump\u2019s call for Iran\u2019s \u201cunconditional surrender,\u201d calling it \u201cirresponsible and hostile.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said any direct American involvement would provoke a strong Iranian response. \u201cWe take Trump\u2019s threats seriously in our assessments,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Israel launched air strikes on Iran Friday, claiming it was nearing nuclear weapon capability. Iran says over 200 people, including civilians, have been killed in the attacks. Iranian missile strikes in Israel have killed 24.<\/p>\n\n\n

While the US denies involvement, Trump suggested the assault followed Tehran\u2019s failure to meet a nuclear deal deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Truth Social, he warned Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was \u201can easy target,\u201d though he ruled out killing him, \u201cat least not for now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t want missiles fired at civilians or American troops. Our patience is wearing thin,\u201d Trump posted, later demanding Iran\u2019s total surrender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
