Geneva, June 25 (EFE).- Human remains have been discovered in Tennmatten area of Blatten, the Swiss Alps village that was destroyed by a massive landslide last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pending formal identification underway, the remains could be that of the only person still missing: a 64-year-old shepherd who lived in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some 300 people were evacuated from Blatten 10 days before the huge landslide, caused by the collapse of a glacier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Up to 3.5 million cubic meters of rock and earth descended on the town, located in a small valley in the canton of Valais, causing losses of 320 million francs ($340 million), according to insurers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Residents are already discussing a reconstruction plan for the town in the same valley, with the goal of returning to the site before the end of 2030, and the first debris removal operations began this week. EFE<\/p>\n\n\n\n
