New York, US (EFE).- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian accused Israel of attempting to assassinate him during a high-level government meeting in Iran, a plot he claims was foiled by Iranian intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an exclusive interview with far-right journalist Tucker Carlson, a close ally of United States President Donald Trump, Pezeshkian alleged that the Israeli military planned to bomb the location of the meeting, though he did not provide a specific date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey did try, yes, and they acted accordingly, but they failed,\u201d Pezeshkian said in the interview, which was posted Monday on Carlson\u2019s X account, formerly Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI was in a meeting. We were discussing the ways to move forward, but thanks to the intelligence spy, the spies that they had, they tried to bombard the area that we were holding that meeting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pezeshkian said that the United States was not involved in the alleged plot and urged Washington to stay out of Israel\u2019s war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is my proposal to the US not to be fooled by (Israeli Prime Minister) Netanyahu, not to be dragged into this kind of war,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When asked whether Iran would resume cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), after suspending inspections last week, Pezeshkian said that, technically, it is not currently possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve never been the party that has run away from verification,\u201d he said. \u201cWe stand ready to have these supervisions, but unfortunately, as a result of the United States\u2019 unlawful attacks (\u2026), many of (\u2026) the facilities there have been severely damaged. Therefore, we don\u2019t have any access to them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Asked whether Iran has ever supported an assassination attempt against Trump or maintained “sleeper cells” on US soil, Pezeshkian denied the allegations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNever,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is actually what Netanyahu is trying to insinuate, and to make your people and the president of your country to believe. But this is wrong. Netanyahu has his own agenda; it is to drug the US into forever wars.\u201d EFE<\/p>\n\n\n\n
