International Desk, Sep 2 (EFE).- Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the US Open semifinals on Tuesday after defeating Czech player Jiri Lehecka in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, 6-4, in one hour and 56 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Spanish world number two broke Lehecka\u2019s serve in the opening game of the first and second sets, taking early control. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alcaraz did not face a single break point throughout the match, winning 84% of points on his first serve.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cI try not to think too much about the number one ranking. I just want to focus on my goals on the court and enjoy it,\u201d Alcaraz said after the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the second set, he produced a decisive volley at 3-2 and 15-30, consolidating his lead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the third, Lehecka held serve until 4-4, but Alcaraz converted a break point to go up 5-4 and then served out the match to love.<\/p>\n\n\n

With this win, Alcaraz surpassed 10,000 points in the ATP ranking for the first time. He will face either Novak Djokovic or Taylor Fritz in the semifinals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
