International Desk (EFE).- The Venice Film Festival on Tuesday hosted premieres ranging from Marc Jacobs\u2019 personal documentary directed by Sofia Coppola, to Kathryn Bigelow\u2019s nuclear thriller \u201cA House of Dynamite,\u201d Fran\u00e7ois Ozon\u2019s adaptation of Camus\u2019 \u201cThe Stranger,\u201d and Stillz\u2019s Colombian odyssey \u201cBarrio Triste.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each screening brought global debates, from fashion identity to nuclear risks and colonial memory, to the festival stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fashion designer Marc Jacobs presented Marc by Sofia, a documentary by Coppola that explores his creative world and personal openness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have discovered that it benefits me not to feel shame,\u201d Jacobs said during the presentation. \u201cThe only way is being direct, open, and honest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film revisits his childhood in New York, his grandmother\u2019s influence, and his rise from Perry Ellis to Louis Vuitton before founding his brand. <\/p>\n\n\n

Kathryn Bigelow warns of nuclear risks<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow premiered \u201cA House of Dynamite,\u201d which portrays United States leaders facing 19 minutes to decide the response to an unidentified nuclear missile. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHow can the annihilation of the world be a good defensive measure?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n\n\n

Bigelow said she hopes the film sparks debate on disarmament: \u201cWe are really living in a house of dynamite.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are nine countries with nuclear arsenals and enough weapons to destroy civilization several times,\u201d said screenwriter Noah Oppenheim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actors Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson, who play US officials, described the shoot as \u201cintense and ultra-realistic.\u201d Ferguson said the story made her understand \u201cthe fragility we live in, even in times of peace.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Global stories from Colombia and France<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In \u201cBarrio Triste,\u201d Colombian-American filmmaker Stillz, known for working with Bad Bunny, delivered a gritty tale of Medell\u00edn gangs in the 1980s, produced by Harmony Korine with music by Arca. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film, competing in Venice\u2019s Horizons section, follows young gang members in a violent suburb where myths of lights and monsters collide with daily survival. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stillz appeared masked at the premiere, with the festival quoting him: \u201cThey told stories without an ending. I wanted to know where they had gone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n

French director Fran\u00e7ois Ozon also premiered his version of Albert Camus\u2019 \u201cThe Stranger,\u201d filmed in black and white to evoke colonial Algeria. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI wanted to give the story a look of today and contextualize French colonization,\u201d Ozon said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The filmmaker changed the opening line of the novel to highlight colonial realities: \u201cInstead of \u2018Today mother died,\u2019 I chose \u2018I killed an Arab.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Benjamin Voisin stars as Meursault, while Rebecca Marder plays Marie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
