Gaza (EFE).- Israel’s military on Wednesday bombed and demolished the Taiba 2 residential tower in Gaza City, an hour after urging its forced evacuation, EFE reported from the Strip’s capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the sixth high-rise residential tower Israel has destroyed in recent days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Israeli fighter jets fired at least three missiles at the tower, which is more than 10 stories high, causing it to completely collapse, raising a huge cloud of smoke that could be seen from different parts of the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is still unknown whether there were any fatalities from the attack or whether the tower was unoccupied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claim that these buildings are used by Hamas as observation points, among other purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The residential and commercial tower blocks of Gaza City constitute an important , which before the Israeli military offensive was a vibrant capital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just an hour earlier, IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, issued a forced evacuation order for this building and its surroundings on the social media platform X, alleging, as the military routinely does, that it contained “Hamas infrastructure.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Taiba 2 tower is the sixth high-rise – in addition to dozens of slightly lower buildings – that Israel has demolished since Friday, when it detonated the 12-story Al-Mushtaha building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Saturday, it bombed the Al-Sousi tower, on Sunday, Al-Roya 1, and on Monday, the Al-Roya 2 and Al-Salam towers, according to a tally by the Qatari network Al Jazeera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The destruction of these buildings, surrounded by hundreds of tents housing displaced people, has left thousands of people homeless, according to Civil Defense estimates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The IDF issued an evacuation order for the entire city on Tuesday, describing it as a “dangerous combat zone.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
