Washington DC (EFE).- The United States Department of State announced Friday that it would withdraw Colombian President Gustavo Petro\u2019s visa for inciting insubordination among American soldiers at a rally in New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEarlier today, Colombian president @petrogustavo stood on a NYC street and urged U.S. soldiers to disobey orders and incite violence. We will revoke Petro\u2019s visa due to his reckless and incendiary actions,\u201d the Department of State posted on social media platform X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Petro, during a rally in New York against the Israeli campaign in Gaza, called on US soldiers to disobey orders from President Donald Trump and not \u201cpoint their guns at people,\u201d and called for the formation of a global military force to liberate Palestine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Colombian leader has been a vocal opponent of Israel’s war in Gaza, and has suspended coal exports to Israel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Petro is set to become the second Colombian president to have his US visa revoked after Ernesto Samper in 1996 by the Clinton administration over alleged drug trafficking ties.EFE <\/p>\n\n\n\n
