Moscow (EFE).- Authorities in the Crimean Peninsula, annexed by Russia in 2014, on Monday started to ration fuel at local gas stations in view of the fuel deficit caused by the Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Crimea\u2019s chief Sergey Aksyonov posted on his Telegram channel that only up to 30 liters per car will be dispensed at gas stations, and reported that the prices of diesel and gasoline of different octanes would range between 70 and 80 rubles per liter (from 84 to 96 cents).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cStarting today, a fuel sales limit of no more than 30 liters per purchase is being introduced . I ask Crimeans not to stockpile gasoline and to refuel their vehicles as usual,\u201d Aksyonov said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am confident that the measures taken by the Republic’s government and joint work with the federal government will improve the fuel situation in the region,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In recent months Ukraine has launched multiple attacks on Russian refineries, affecting their functioning, leading to a fuel shortage and higher prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The situation in the Crimean peninsula has further aggravated in recent days as bad weather has caused difficulties in the movement of fuel through the Kerch Strait. EFE <\/p>\n\n\n\n
