Los Angeles, United States, Dec 23 (EFE).- A jury in Los Angeles, California, found rapper Tory Lanez guilty Friday of all charges for shooting singer Megan Thee Stallion in 2020 outside a party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The jury charged the Canadian rapper, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, with assault with a semi-automatic firearm, having a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence, American media reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although the sentence is not yet known, the charges could mean 22 years in jail for the 30-year-old rapper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This wicked system is on trial before god almighty!” Peterson’s father yelled in the courtroom as he rose from his seat, pointing at prosecutors in the case and accusing them of being “wicked people,” before agents escorted him out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the trial, Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, testified that in summer 2020, Peterson fired a pistol into the back of her feet and yelled at her to dance as she walked away from the car in which the two had been traveling around Hollywood Hills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Pete\u2019s version, the event took place after the two had an argument in which she insulted the rapper’s music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pete said she had to undergo surgery to remove bullet fragments from her feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prior to the judges’ deliberation, Peterson’s lawyer alleged that the shots were actually fired by Pete’s then-best friend Kelsey Harris in a jealous rage over the Canadian. Harris denied shooting and previously identified Peterson as the one holding the gun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prosecutors emphasized the courage Pete, 27, had in coming forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She became one of the revelation artists of 2020 for the song “Savage,” which went viral thanks to a choreography imitated by thousands of users on social media platform TikTok. EFE<\/p>\n\n\n\n
