London, Jan 5 (EFE).- Britain\u2019s Prince Harry has claimed he was physically attacked by his brother Prince William during an argument about his wife Meghan Markle in 2019, according to excerpts of his upcoming autobiography Spare published by The Guardian newspaper Thursday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the passage, Harry claims that the altercation took place at his then residence Nottingham Cottage, on the grounds of Kensington Palace, London. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
William, now the Prince of Wales and first in line to the throne, called Markle \u201cdifficult,\u201d \u201crude\u201d and \u201cabrasive,\u201d Harry says in the autobiography due to be published next week.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Harry accused William of repeating the negative British tabloid press coverage of Markle, an actor from the United States who married into the royal family in 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the passage, Harry claims he tried to calm his elder brother William down and offered him a glass of water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog\u2019s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out,\u201d Harry writes, according to The Guardian. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The attack left Harry with a visible injury on his back, he adds in the book. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is one of a string of incidents detailed in an autobiography that is sure to spark fresh controversies for the British royal family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
William later returned to apologize to his brother, Harry says in Spare, set for publishing on January 10, but also ask that he not mention the incident to Markle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Harry says he withheld the information from his wife at first \u2014 although did tell his therapist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Markle found out when she noticed the bruises on his back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prince Harry and Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and became financially independent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The title of Harry\u2019s book, Spare, plays on a saying in royal and aristocratic circles that the first son is the heir and the second the spare in case anything should happen to the first. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In excerpts from his book published by The Guardian, Harry says that his father, now King Charles III, told his mother, Princess Diana, on the day of his birth: \u201cWonderful! Now you\u2019ve given me an heir and a spare \u2013 my work is done.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
