Lviv, Ukraine, Jan 9 (EFE).- At least two people were killed and several others were wounded, including a minor, Ukrainian officials said, after Russian missiles struck a market in a recently liberated town in the northeast region of Kharkiv on Monday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The occupiers launched a missile attack on Shevchenkove town in Kupyansk district. An enemy missile hit the territory of a local market. Two women were killed. Three more women and a 10-year-old girl were injured,” the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement on Telegram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Russian forces abandoned Shevchenkove in September after having occupied the town for six months since invading Ukraine in late February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The head of the regional military administration, Oleh Syniehubov, had first reported that the attack had left seven civilians wounded, including a 13-year-old girl, citing data from the Regional Emergency Medical Care Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shortly afterwards he said that a 60-year-old woman was killed in the attack, and specified that the other victims have been hospitalized, while rescue teams were still on the scene to remove the debris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“According to preliminary data, the enemy fired at the settlement with an S-300 missile system from the territory of the Russian region of Belgorod,” the Prosecutor’s Office said, which borders Ukraine. EFE
