Washington, Jan 12 (EFE).- United States president Joe Biden is coming under increased scrutiny after a second batch of classified documents was discovered in a separate location to an initial trove found in the office he used after serving as vice president under Barack Obama. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The discoveries reported by US press this week come after Biden\u2019s Republican rivals took hold of the House of Representatives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first trove of classified documents was discovered in November at an office that Biden used before launching his 2020 White House bid, and was reported on Monday by CBS News.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Biden said he was \u201csurprised\u201d to learn of the discovery and that his team was \u201ccooperating fully\u201d with the review into the incident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The documents, found at a University of Pennsylvania think-tank office used by Biden, were immediately handed over to the National Archives, the president told reporters during a visit to Mexico. He added that he was unaware of their contents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
NBC News on Wednesday reported a second batch of classified material was unearthed by Biden aides at an undisclosed location. The White House and the Department of Justice have yet to comment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
House Republicans have jumped on the chance to draw parallels between the discoveries and the ongoing investigation into the cache of classified documents found at former president Donald Trump\u2019s Florida residence Mar-a-Lago last August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are, however, few similarities between the cases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While Biden\u2019s team handed the documents over to the authorities, the DoJ had to intervene in order to seize the files from Mar-a-Lago. EFE<\/p>\n\n\n\n
