Paris, Mar 3 (EFE).- Morocco and Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has been formally charged with rape, French prosecutors told Efe on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 24-year-old had been under investigation by prosecutors in Nanterre, a western suburb of Paris, after a 23-year-old woman filed a report with police, although she did not press charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prosecutors confirmed the Madrid-born player had been formally charged on Thursday evening. He has been banned from contacting the alleged victim but was not held in custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Local media said the alleged victim made contact with Hakimi on social media on January 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hakimi, who at the time was ruled out of playing football due to injury, then invited the woman to his property on February 25, local media reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The player\u2019s lawyers have denied the accusations. EFE<\/p>\n\n\n\n
