EFE-EPA\/RAHAT DAR<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A court disqualified Khan from holding public office and was stripped of his National Assembly seat on these charges last year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He may be indicted on the charges of selling state gifts given by foreign dignitaries and not declaring them in his assets to the election commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The district and sessions court had, in warrants, ordered the police to arrest Khan and produce him before the court in a hearing over his continuous absence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, when police arrived to arrest him, the former prime minister fortified himself inside his house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hundreds of his party supporters surrounded the residence to stop the police from entering it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Live images broadcast on local TV showed police trying to enter Khan\u2019s residence and supporters pushing them back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Monday, federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said Khan would be arrested \u201cat any cost\u201d if he did not turn up before the court on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe must face the charges against him and surrender to police. EFE-EPA\/RAHAT DAR<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pakistan\u2019s media regulator on Sunday imposed a complete ban on broadcasting Khan\u2019s speeches or press conferences live or recorded on satellite TV channels with immediate effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He had criticized an intelligence official in an address broadcast live on TV for carrying out \u201cinhuman torture\u201d on his party leaders while in custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The media watchdog banned Khan\u2019s live speeches previously, but recorded addresses were still allowed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Khan was ousted from office in a no-confidence vote in April last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He has accused the country\u2019s all-powerful military of helping the then-opposition to remove him from power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former premier survived an assassination attempt on him in November last year.
