Washington DC, Mar 25 (EFE).- Former President of the United States, Donald Trump (2017-2021), sought to discredit the justice system during a rally in Waco, Texas, ahead of a possible indictment in New York over the payment of hush money to the porn actress Stormy Daniels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Addressing a crowd before the Waco Regional Airport, Trump claimed he was a target of a political \u201cwitch hunt,\u201d while presenting himself as a victim of \u201cweaponization\u201d of the justice system.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cThey have nothing (against me),\u201d said the former president. \u201cFrom the beginning it\u2019s been one witch hunt and phony investigation after another.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Without evidence, Trump accused justice department officials of \u201cprocedural misconduct\u201d and trying to implicate him in different cases as a part of politically motivated efforts to hamper his 2024 presidential bid.<\/p>\n\n\n

The investigation by the New York District Attorney\u2019s Office, which has lasted almost five years, focuses on the alleged payment of $130,000 by the Trump team to Daniels during the 2016 election campaign to keep her from going public about an alleged sexual relationship they had in 2006.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n


The case is now in the hands of a grand jury, who must decide whether or not to charge the former president. If Trump is charged he will become the first former US president to face a criminal charge. EFE<\/p>\n\n\n\n
