Khartoum, June 6 (EFE).- At least 10 Congolese refugees died in an attack in Khartoum that, according to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, was perpetrated by the Sudanese Army, official sources reported Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I am shocked and saddened by reports that at least 10 refugees living in Sudan have died in an attack in Khartoum. UNHCR is trying to reach and provide support to survivors. All civilians are in danger in Sudan. Guns must be silenced if lives are to be saved and aid delivered,” Filippo Grandi, head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, wrote Tuesday on Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, the paramilitaries raised the number of refugees killed by yesterday’s incident to 25 and said all victims are Congolese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Sudanese army has not reacted to this information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This conflict, which has pitted the Sudanese army against the paramilitaries since Apr. 15, has caused more than 850 deaths and more than 5,500 injuries, as well as the internal and external displacement of more than 1.3 million people, according to the UN. EFE <\/p>\n\n\n\n
