Sydney, Australia, Sep 21 (EFE).- Australia on Thursday announced an independent investigation into its response to the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This Inquiry will look at the Government\u2019s responses and will give advice on what worked, what didn\u2019t, and what we can do in the future to best protect Australians from the worst of any future events\u201d Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The inquiry will consider the provision of vaccinations, treatments and key medical supplies to Australians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It will also analyze mental health support for those impacted by Covid-19 and lockdowns, financial support for individuals and business, and assistance for Australians abroad, the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The investigation will be conducted by a panel of experts, including former official Robyn Kruk, epidemiologist Catherine Bennett, and health economist Angela Jackson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Inquiry will run for 12 months, with a final report to be delivered by 30 September 2024,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Australia adopted one of the strictest policies in the world against Covid-19 with long border closures and lockdowns over a handful of infections, which sparked protests in several cities, including Melbourne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The country has recorded almost 12 million Covid-19 cases and over 22,700 deaths, and has fully vaccinated 96.5 percent of its population over the age of 16. EFE<\/p>\n\n\n\n
