London, Feb 6 (EFE).- British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Tuesday that King Charles III’s cancer was “caught early.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Thankfully this has been caught early, and now everyone will be wishing…that he gets the treatment he needs and makes a full recovery,” Sunak told BBC Radio 5 Live. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunak said he was in regular contact with the King, with whom communication would “continue as normal.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“He’ll just be in our thoughts and our prayers – many families around the country listening to this will have been touched by the same thing, and they know what it means to everyone.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buckingham Palace announced on Monday that Charles III was diagnosed with cancer of an unspecified type 17 months after he acceded to the throne following the death of his mother, Elizabeth II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ailment was detected during a surgical procedure on Jan. 26, the palace said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“During the King\u2019s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer,” it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The King, 75, returned from his country residence in Sandringham in eastern England on Monday to start his cancer treatment in London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The King has canceled his upcoming public activities for the duration of his treatment, the palace said. EFE<\/p>\n\n\n\n
