Miami (EFE<\/a>).- O jovem candidato democrata Maxwell Frost, de 25 anos, tornou-se o primeiro membro da “Gera\u00e7\u00e3o Z” a chegar ao Congresso em Washington, depois de derrotar seu oponente nas elei\u00e7\u00f5es de meio de mandato, o republicano Calvin Wimbish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frost disputava a vaga no 10\u00ba distrito da Fl\u00f3rida, que abriga a cidade de Orlando, no centro da Fl\u00f3rida, e foi desocupado por Val Demings para concorrer com o republicano Marco Rubio pela vaga no Senado, na qual foi reeleito na ter\u00e7a-feira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De acordo com a proje\u00e7\u00e3o da emissora de TV americana “MSNBC”, Frost superou Wimbish com uma vantagem de 10 pontos percentuais, o que garante sua chegada ao Congresso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ele ser\u00e1 o primeiro membro da gera\u00e7\u00e3o Z, ou seja, os nascidos entre 1990 e o in\u00edcio de 2010, com um assento na C\u00e2mara dos Representantes em Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Filho de m\u00e3e porto-riquenha e pai haitiano, e posteriormente adotado por um cubano que emigrou para os Estados Unidos, Maxwell Frost foi o organizador nacional da “Marcha por Nossas Vidas” para pedir mais controle na venda de armas de fogo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A marcha foi realizada em Washington ap\u00f3s o tiroteio na Parkland Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, em 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Durante a campanha eleitoral de meio de mandato, ele tamb\u00e9m foi contra a restri\u00e7\u00e3o ao aborto, que foi um dos argumentos de seu partido neste ciclo eleitoral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seu oponente, Calvin Wimbish, \u00e9 um ex-Boina Verde de 72 anos que se autodenomina “crist\u00e3o, conservador e constitucionalista”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A vit\u00f3ria de Frost foi uma das poucas dos democratas na Fl\u00f3rida, onde os republicanos venceram categoricamente nas duas corridas mais importantes, como governador e uma das duas cadeiras que correspondem \u00e0 Fl\u00f3rida no Senado, em Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ron DeSantis e Marco Rubio, ambos republicanos, alcan\u00e7aram a meta de serem reeleitos governador e senador, respectivamente, como previam as pesquisas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
