Washington (EFE).- O presidente do Federal Reserve (Fed, banco central dos Estados Unidos), Jerome Powell, esclareceu nesta quarta-feira que o \u00f3rg\u00e3o ainda n\u00e3o tomou uma decis\u00e3o sobre o quanto aumentar\u00e1 as taxas de juro e que est\u00e1 \u00e0 espera de v\u00e1rios dados econ\u00f4micos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n“Temos alguns dados potencialmente importantes para analisar. Mais uma vez, n\u00e3o tomamos nenhuma decis\u00e3o sobre a reuni\u00e3o de mar\u00e7o e n\u00e3o vamos tomar at\u00e9 vermos dados adicionais”, declarou em audi\u00eancia perante um comit\u00ea da C\u00e2mara dos Representantes dos EUA.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
A pr\u00f3xima reuni\u00e3o do Comit\u00ea de Mercado Aberto do Fed, que dever\u00e1 decidir sobre as taxas de juro, est\u00e1 agendada para 21 e 22 de mar\u00e7o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Powell fez os seus coment\u00e1rios a uma comiss\u00e3o do Senado na ter\u00e7a-feira, na primeira de duas apari\u00e7\u00f5es obrigat\u00f3rias \u00e0 C\u00e2mara a cada seis meses para a informar sobre as pol\u00edticas monet\u00e1rias do \u00f3rg\u00e3o regulador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Se a totalidade dos dados indicar que se justifica um aperto mais r\u00e1pido, estar\u00edamos preparados para acelerar o ritmo de subida das taxas”, disse Powell no discurso inicial no comit\u00ea banc\u00e1rio do Senado, palavras que foram interpretadas como um aviso de acelera\u00e7\u00e3o das taxas e que balan\u00e7aram os mercados, com quedas nos principais \u00edndices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hoje, repetiu o mesmo discurso para abrir a sess\u00e3o mas, introduziu uma frase: “E sublinho que ainda n\u00e3o temos os dados”, um esclarecimento em que insistiu na sess\u00e3o de perguntas e respostas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n“Receberemos o relat\u00f3rio sobre o emprego na sexta-feira e o relat\u00f3rio sobre a infla\u00e7\u00e3o e o \u00cdndice de Pre\u00e7os ao Produtor na pr\u00f3xima semana”, disse o presidente do banco central dos EUA.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Os relat\u00f3rios futuros “ser\u00e3o importantes na avalia\u00e7\u00e3o da dire\u00e7\u00e3o geral da economia e ser\u00e3o analisados cuidadosamente”, acrescentou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Em um esfor\u00e7o para conter a infla\u00e7\u00e3o, o Fed fez uma s\u00e9rie de aumentos de taxas, oito no ano passado. A \u00faltima subida, em 1\u00ba de fevereiro, foi menor do que as anteriores, 0,25 ponto percentual, um n\u00famero que parecia assinalar o in\u00edcio de um abrandamento no aperto da pol\u00edtica monet\u00e1ria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
