Apesar das advert\u00eancias clim\u00e1ticas dos cientistas, a quantidade total de CO2 emitida na atmosfera, longe de ser reduzida, alcan\u00e7ar\u00e1 um novo recorde em 2023, com 40,9 bilh\u00f5es de toneladas, segundo dados do novo relat\u00f3rio anual divulgado pelo Global Carbon Project no \u00e2mbito da COP28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O relat\u00f3rio, denominado &#8220;Global Carbon Budget&#8221;, que oferece uma vis\u00e3o global do ciclo do carbono, foi elaborado por pesquisadores da Universidade de Exeter (Reino Unido), da Universidade de East Anglia (UEA), do Centro de Pesquisa Clim\u00e1tica Internacional (Noruega), da Universidade Ludwig-Maximilians de Munique e de 90 outras institui\u00e7\u00f5es de todo o mundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Esta \u00e9 a d\u00e9cima oitava edi\u00e7\u00e3o do relat\u00f3rio, que envolve mais de 120 cientistas, e ser\u00e1 publicada na revista Earth System Science Data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De acordo com os dados, as emiss\u00f5es de di\u00f3xido de carbono (CO2) de combust\u00edveis f\u00f3sseis, a principal fonte do efeito estufa global que causa a crise clim\u00e1tica, devem ter aumentado 1,1% em rela\u00e7\u00e3o a 2022, um novo recorde, para 36,8 bilh\u00f5es de toneladas at\u00e9 o final de 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quando as emiss\u00f5es de CO2 f\u00f3ssil e as emiss\u00f5es da mudan\u00e7a no uso da terra s\u00e3o somadas, o total aumentar\u00e1 para 40,9 bilh\u00f5es de toneladas este ano, de acordo com as previs\u00f5es para o final de 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O n\u00famero geral \u00e9 superior ao de 2022, quando teriam sido emitidas 40,6 bilh\u00f5es de toneladas de CO2, e confirma a dist\u00e2ncia que persiste em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0s metas clim\u00e1ticas globais a serem cumpridas, que deveriam ser &#8220;urgentes&#8221;, segundo o relat\u00f3rio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Embora com grandes incertezas, o trabalho sugere que, na taxa atual de emiss\u00f5es, h\u00e1 50% de chance de que, em cerca de sete anos, o aquecimento global ultrapasse um limite normalizado de 1,5\u00b0C acima dos n\u00edveis t\u00e9rmicos da era pr\u00e9-industrial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enquanto cerca de metade do CO2 ainda \u00e9 absorvido por &#8220;sumidouros&#8221; terrestres, como florestas e oceanos, o restante das emiss\u00f5es permanece na atmosfera e causa mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De acordo com os n\u00fameros, as emiss\u00f5es de CO2 f\u00f3ssil est\u00e3o diminuindo em algumas regi\u00f5es geogr\u00e1ficas, incluindo a Europa e os Estados Unidos, mas, em geral, est\u00e3o aumentando globalmente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Os cientistas alertam que as a\u00e7\u00f5es globais para reduzir os combust\u00edveis f\u00f3sseis n\u00e3o est\u00e3o sendo r\u00e1pidas o suficiente para evitar mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas &#8220;perigosas&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prev\u00ea-se que as emiss\u00f5es provenientes de mudan\u00e7as no uso da terra (como o desmatamento) diminuam &#8220;ligeiramente&#8221;, mas n\u00e3o seriam suficientes para compensar os n\u00edveis de reflorestamento e florestamento (novas florestas).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;Parece inevit\u00e1vel que ultrapassaremos a meta de 1,5\u00b0C do Acordo de Paris&#8221;, alerta o professor Pierre Friedlingstein, do Global Systems Institute de Exeter e diretor do relat\u00f3rio.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Diante da situa\u00e7\u00e3o, a c\u00fapula do clima que est\u00e1 sendo realizada at\u00e9 o dia 12 em Dubai ter\u00e1 de chegar a um acordo sobre &#8220;cortes r\u00e1pidos nas emiss\u00f5es f\u00f3sseis&#8221; que impe\u00e7am que a temperatura do planeta ultrapasse esses n\u00edveis ou, pelo menos, mantenham a meta de n\u00e3o ultrapassar um aumento de 2\u00b0C em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 era pr\u00e9-industrial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;Todos os pa\u00edses precisam descarbonizar suas economias mais rapidamente do que no presente para evitar os piores impactos das mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas&#8221;, disse ele.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>O relat\u00f3rio inclui dados importantes que confirmam que as tend\u00eancias regionais na luta contra o clima variam muito.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De acordo com os indicadores, as emiss\u00f5es de CO2 em 2023 devem aumentar na \u00cdndia (8,2%) e na China (4,0%), e diminuir na Uni\u00e3o Europeia (-7,4%), nos Estados Unidos (-3,0%) e no resto do mundo (-0,4%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Por tipo de fonte, projeta-se que as emiss\u00f5es globais de carv\u00e3o (1,1%), petr\u00f3leo (1,5%) e g\u00e1s (0,5%) aumentem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prev\u00ea-se que as emiss\u00f5es atmosf\u00e9ricas de CO2 atinjam uma m\u00e9dia de 419,3 partes por milh\u00e3o (ppp) em 2023, 51% acima dos n\u00edveis pr\u00e9-industriais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De acordo com os n\u00fameros, as emiss\u00f5es globais de CO2 provenientes de inc\u00eandios florestais em 2023 foram maiores do que a m\u00e9dia devido a uma temporada de inc\u00eandios extrema no Canad\u00e1, com um impacto de seis a oito vezes maior do que a m\u00e9dia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Os n\u00edveis de remo\u00e7\u00e3o de di\u00f3xido de carbono com tecnologia &#8211; excluindo a remo\u00e7\u00e3o de CO2 com projetos naturais, como o reflorestamento &#8211; chegam a aproximadamente 0,01 milh\u00e3o de toneladas de CO2, o que \u00e9 mais de 1 milh\u00e3o de vezes menor do que as atuais emiss\u00f5es de CO2 f\u00f3ssil.
